It's the end of daylight saving time and a good time to check and replace the batteries of your fire alarms in your house. A smoke alarm, being one of the most important fire safety devices for the home needs to be ready and working all the time and should be tested at least once a month (much better if you can do it at least once a week).
Lastnight, before we went to bed, we roll back our clocks an hour and checked all our fire alarms. Most of our alarms are dual-sensor smoke alarms, the Ionization and Photoelectric detectors. We replaced all their batteries. The old batteries may still have power, but it's hard to gamble our safety. Those old batteries might be right on the threshold of failing, so it's best that we changed them all. The end of daylight saving time is a "change the clock time, change the battery" thing in the house.
How about you? Have you changed your clocks yet? Have you checked your smoke detectors yet? Get in synch with the most parts of the United States by changing the time of your clocks and watches. Don't forget to check the batteries of your smoke detectors as well and change them if necessary. A working smoke detector reduces the risk of a fatal fire, and saves thousands of lives already.

Are you a free-spirited spender? Is spending your downfall? I used to be a big spender, until I started learning the art of being frugal. I actively search out for great deals and for coupons and rebates to save extra money. I also plan and research any major purchases that I make. I am not a great cook, but me and my husband both enjoy cooking and eating at home. We don't dine out as much as other people do. Not only that we can spend more time together and enjoy the fun messing in the kitchen, we also save more money. My husband is a free-spirited spender, I'm working on him to spend wisely. Good thing that he listens on me.
With the economic hardships of our time, plus the upcoming spending for the season, I need to cut back on our spending and shop wisely as much as I can. It's time to get more creative ways to save a few bucks. Finances were always a difficult challenge especially these time of our economy.
I finally ordered me a nice eyeglass, after selecting from the many beautiful and stylish eyeglasses that ZenniOptical.com sells. I saved a whole lot of money. I shopped for eyeglasses everywhere because I really need it but they were all expensive. If I didn't searched well, I would end up spending more for my eyeglass. It's always good to shop wisely and plan carefully. You would be surprised how much a little planning on your end can save you money.

I received my Google adsense check yesterday. It seems like it was only yesterday when I read a blog post about google adsense and a fellow blogger posted his google adsense check on his blog. After reading that blog post, I signed up with google adsense, with the hope that someday, I'd get a check from Google too. That someday was yesterday. I got my adsense check and it feels good. It's not more about the amount of the check, it is the check itself because when I first started, I wished to be like that blogger, holding the check. It's the fulfillment of the said wish. I can actually choose to receive my google adsense pay though EFT (electronic fund transfer), direct to my bank account or my Paypal account but I didn't. I showed it to one person that matters, and after seeing that smile on his face, it feels like hardwork was paid off thrice.
You can call me shallow, that's okey. I'll have my next adsense pay delivered on my Paypal account. After all, that little wish is already fulfilled. Thanks Google.

Come November 2nd this year, is the end of the Daylight Saving Time. That means the clock is move back one hour, thus returning to standard time. To help people remember, we have the phrase, Spring forward...Fall back for Daylight Saving Time. This means that every spring we move our clocks one hour ahead and move our clocks one hour back every fall.
Almost every year around our house, it's a little bit confusing resetting clocks for Daylight Saving Time. It's not very easy synchronizing the time around the clocks and other appliances like the Oven, the VCR, coffee maker and the others including the laptop and the desktop computers. Sometimes the car clock and our watch and our cellphone don't synchronize either. We have to reset all the time displays. I think I like the clock and appliances where we do manual settings because some of these automatic clocks that we have, sometimes gets confused and change time earlier than scheduled.
Not all states in the US observe the Daylight Saving Time. I think Arizona, Hawaii and the territories of Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa are among the places in the U.S. that stay on the standard time all year long. I live in a place that observes Daylight Saving Time and I enjoy the extra snooze one night during autumn.

A friend of mine asked me if shopping online saves more money than shopping direct from stores and picking the product yourself. Since I sometimes shop online, I can say that there's really difference in savings. I have always been a comparison shopper since I learned how to buy things I like and need. If there is something specific that I want to buy, I will make sure I see and find which stores are selling it in a cheaper price. That's just me. I am not a cheapskate but I do check the prices and see if I can save more money. Needless to say, I go online too and find a better offer. I don't forget to calculate the shipping and handling fees too and add them up so I can compare the price of the store and the overall expenses online and then decide which is better. It all depends on the deals you get. I must say that there are some really great deals online, sometimes so much better than any of the stores. In online shopping, there is no gas to add to your costs, you just have to wait a little longer compared to getting it yourself from the store. Either way, you just have to check the deals you're getting and decide which is which.

I was chatting with a friend earlier and for some reason we have talked about using plastic water bottles after single use. Apparently, she hasn't heard about different informations, some negative effects of reusing water bottles. She has the habit of using and re-using disposable mineral water bottles, keeping them in her car or wherever she goes.I thought I'd post about this topic so that you can do your own research and caution.
Did you know that there were some reports about using plastic water bottles? According to some articles and reports, reusing plastic bottles after single use is not very good to our health. I have read somewhere, I can't remember where exactly (that's why I say please do your research too if you're interested about this) that there is toxins in water bottles and when they are heated for any length of time, the toxins are released into the water in the bottles. I do buy bottled water but since I got confused about some informations, I try to disposed bottled water right after using them once. Better safe than sorry.
Here's an interesting article entitled "Facts filter out fiction about bottled water". You can read the article here.

Christmas is coming. Santa Claus is coming to town soon (as what the kiddos believe). That's two more months, after Halloween and Thanksgiving.
Speaking of Santa Claus, do you have kids? nephews , nieces or kids you care a lot? Would you like them to receive a personal letter from Santa Claus?
Well, I found this link of a freebie. It's a free letter from Santa. A nonprofit organization called Santa's Elves, Inc. provides FREE letters from Santa Claus himself! No cost at all. No shipping fee too.
When you get to their website, click on the request a letter link, and fill up the form which ask of the children's names, and the addresses to which the letters should be sent, and write a brief narrative about the child/children. You can write how wonderful the children in your life are to you and more, whatever you wish to write. That easy. I am sure your kiddos heart will be touched by Santa's personal letter.
